Episode 26: Sony PlayStation News

3 birthdays in the month of September, Dr Wooly, StepJays and The Truskill Games Podcast! And we have lots to discuss about Sony and PlayStation.

PlayStation Now

Playstation Now streaming cloud service is coming to the PC so you can play 300 PS3 games from the cloud and this includes exclusive PS3 games. Sony will also be selling a wireless dongle so you can use the dual shock 4 PlayStation controller on your PC or laptop, there is no support for MAC as of yet.

Pricing in the US is $100 a year, $19.99 a month or $44.99 a month for 3 months and £12 in the UK a month.

Sony will not be refreshing the titles for PC hardware, they will run like if they were being played on the PlayStation and no news yet when PlayStation 4 games will be coming to PC

What devices is PS Now available on?

In some regions of the world you can get PlayStation Now on PS4, PS3, PS Vita, some PlayStation Bravia TVs and they will support DualShock 3 controllers.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will not cast its spell on the PS4 Pro

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will not support the features of the new PS4 pro and its 4K power.

CD Projekt RED have decided to put their efforts into future projects such as Gwent (standalone game) and Cyberpunk 2077, rather than using their resources to make The Witcher 3 4K on the PS4 pro.

In short, if you want to play The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in 4K settings then you will have to do it on the PC.

Sony Says "No Man's Fault"

This week the Sony President Shuhei Yoshida came out criticizing No Man's Sky developer Sean Murray from Hello Games saying "It wasn't a great PR strategy". He then went on to say that it "sounded like he was promising more features than he could deliver".

Sony's role in the relationship was only to assist with promotion and marketing. Still it is an odd statement given a Sony Vice president did describe the game as "potentially one of the biggest games in the history of our industry."

Yoshida came out with some positive comments saying that he had enjoyed playing the game and was looking forward to playing it more. But just to give some context no man's sky, we all remember the massive hype machine that it was. To be fair, Yoshida did explain that it wasn't a great strategy because Sean didn't have anyone helping him within PR and in the end he's an indie developer not a PR executive. Now having not played no man's sky I'm in no place to judge, however I will say, go play the game in a year after it's been patched and fleshed out, then judge it because really it's not a complete game.

Sony's The Last Guardian Delayed Again

After waiting for nearly 10 years for the last guardian to be released. Sony entertainment announced that The Last Guardian will be delayed one last time before its release later this year. We also discuss journalist's feedback about the game after a playable demo was available to play at this year's Tokyo game show. It's not good news!
